31 years after the introduction of the TCS1 Beam Clamp, which is up until today the only one that fits in a standard strut channel opening, SIKLA has literally doubled its flexibility with the introduction of the new Beam Clamp 41.
In many situations there is a bank of pipes or some electrical containment to be supported from a beam or girder structure. Usually in this application there is a 41mm strut channel to be assembled to the steel structure in order to fix the services with the required flexibility.
By fixing the strut channel with conventional beam clamps there is however an unwanted occupation of the channel's opening caused by the beam clamps. At those positions nothing can be attached to the 41 channel but in most cases this will only be noticed during the on-site installation.
The new Beam Clamp 41 allows for a direct connection of Sikla 41mm slotted strut channel without having this obstruction.
In order to achieve this, the foot of the Beam Clamp must be inserted into the slot on the back of the channel. It will then be twisted by 90 degrees and pushed against the beam's flange. During the tightening of the bolt, the sharpened tip of the bolt will dent the beam thus providing a high level of safety.
If the channel opening is supposed to be in beam direction, the Beam Clamp 41 can easily be fixed within the channel's opening as we know it from type TCS 1.

Our products and services for the process industry market like the range of height-adjustable 'SIMOTEC' pipe shoes, the modular steelwork systems FRAMO 80 and SIMOTEC 100/120 and also our CAD design services are now accessible for FPAL members.
SolarTech from Buckingham are a customer from the local area of the SIKLA branch in Milton Keynes. At the John Kaye Court site in Shepperton (a residential apartment development) they had to install 64no. PV panels type Sungrid SG-210M6, each having an output of 210 Watts. Although clearly an ideal application for Sikla Solar Flexframes type FXR, the actual challenge for our Design Engineer James Wells-Gould was the link between the panel frame and the roof. Without being able to penentrate the roof structure due to the weatherproofing membrane, a number of raised pedestals were installed by the roofer as 'fixing points'.
A supporting frame to carry all panels in series, was designed using an outdoor corrosion resistant SIKLA 'hcp' high-performance strut channel type 41-75/75 back-to-back. By using this type, the deflection could be kept to a maximum of only 4 mm.

The finished installation, pictured above, is a picture-perfect example for the advantages of the SIKLA Solar Framing system: Flexible panel frames plus competence in secondary steel design result in a comprehensive solution for the end-user.
Thanks to a great job done by General Manager Nigel Thompson and his team, the move went like clockwork within the previously scheduled two-weeks-timeframe. Only on Friday, 26th February no orders could be delivered which remained the only one day were customers got affected. Telephone lines and IT network were cut off Thursday night and already next morning, at 10 AM, both systems were up and running at the new premises.
As the only little drop of bitterness we learned last week that our main switchboard number cannot be maintained. However our fax number has not changed.

The new offices and the warehouse offer more space and better working conditions for the team as well as more pallet racking capacities. The location is very attractive and we are now neighbours of Tesco, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Starbucks, Marks & Spencer or McDonalds to name just a few.
Although being fully operational there is still a lot of work to be done. For the first time SIKLA UK will have a canteen and a proper training room for groups up to 15 people. As soon as these works have been finished in late spring 2010, we will send you an update with more images from our new home.
